How it works

  1. Paste the comma-separated keyword field and, if you like, add the app name and subtitle.
  2. The tool measures the field in UTF-8 bytes, like Apple does, and looks for stray spaces, duplicates, singular/plural forms and words already in the name or subtitle.
  3. You get a list of fixes and a cleaned version to copy, which you should review before using.

Example

The field "fitness, workout, gym, exercise, training, cardio, abs, stretch, timer, coach" uses 77 of 100 bytes. It has 9 needless spaces, "workout" is already in the name and "cardio" in the subtitle. The cleaned version needs 53 bytes and frees 24.

What the result means

Apple limits this field to 100 bytes, commas included; an accented or non-Latin letter takes 2 bytes or more. Every byte lost to spaces or repeats is one byte less for a new word. The tool does not tell you which words people search for: it only checks format and repetition.

  • Going over 100 bytes stops you from saving the field in App Store Connect.
  • Spaces after commas use bytes and add nothing.

  • Writing both the singular and the plural of one word doubles the cost of a single word.

Frequently asked questions

What is the keyword field limit?

100 bytes according to Apple's App Store Connect help. For unaccented Latin text 1 character equals 1 byte; accented and non-Latin letters cost more.

Should I add a space after each comma?

No. Separate words with commas only: spaces use bytes without adding a word. This is common good practice.

Can I repeat a word from my app name in the keyword field?

There is no point: the name is already used by the store, so the repeat only takes up room. The tool flags those words.

Does the tool show how popular my keywords are?

No. It is a metadata check and shows no search volume at all.
