ASO Character Counter
Type or paste a text: it is compared at once with every App Store and Google Play limit, with the room left for each.
Privacy and cost
This tool runs in your browser. What you type or paste is not sent to our servers and it costs nothing to use.
How it works
- Type or paste any listing text in the box.
- The tool shows characters, characters without spaces, UTF-8 bytes, words and lines.
- Each official limit (Apple: name, subtitle, keywords, promotional text, description, what's new; Google Play: title, short description, full description) appears with its gauge and the characters left or over.
Example
The text "Strength, cardio and yoga": 25 characters, 22 without spaces, 25 bytes, 4 words. It fits the name (30), the subtitle (30) and the Google Play title (30), with 5 characters to spare in each.
What the result means
The limits come from Apple's and Google's official documentation and are dated in the tool. Apple's keyword field is measured in UTF-8 bytes; every other field is measured in characters. A "within the limit" result says nothing about the quality of the text or its search volume.
Common problems this tool helps with
- Each store has its own limits and it is easy to mix up 30, 80, 100 and 170.
- Apple's keyword field is counted in bytes: accented letters cost more than one byte.
- A text written in a word processor can exceed the limit without you noticing.
Frequently asked questions
Which limits does the tool apply?
Apple: name 30, subtitle 30, keywords 100 bytes, promotional text 170, description 4,000, what's new 4,000. Google Play: title 30, short description 80, full description 4,000.
Why show bytes as well?
Because Apple measures the keyword field in bytes. For unaccented Latin text one character is one byte; for Arabic or accented letters it is more.
Are the limits up to date?
They were read from the official help pages in September 2026. Stores can change them: the date is shown under the table.
