Meta Title Checker
Paste your title tag to see whether it fits in Google results: length, pixel width, keyword position and a live preview.
Privacy and cost
This tool runs in your browser. What you type or paste is not sent to our servers and it costs nothing to use.
How it works
- Type or paste your title tag (and a target keyword if you have one).
- The tool counts characters and estimates pixel width using Arial metrics, the font of Google's result titles.
- You get a truncated preview as Google would show it and a list of things to fix.
Example
"Free SEO Audit Tool – Check Your Website in Seconds": 51 characters, about 494px, the keyword "seo audit" appears early. Result: good length.
What the result means
Google cuts titles by display width, not by a fixed character count. An estimated width above roughly 600px means the end will be replaced by "…". The estimate is indicative: Google also rewrites some titles.
Common problems this tool helps with
- A title that is too long is truncated and loses its call to action.
- A title that is too short does not explain what the page is about.
- A keyword buried at the end of the title is less visible to searchers.
- Identical titles across pages confuse both Google and users.
Frequently asked questions
What is the ideal title tag length?
Aim for 30 to 60 characters and under about 600 pixels. That is common best practice, not an official Google rule.
Does Google rewrite my titles?
Sometimes. Google may replace a title it considers too long, vague or keyword-stuffed. A clear title that matches the page is rewritten less often.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. The analysis runs entirely in your browser and nothing is sent to our servers.
