How it works

- The tool counts words, characters with and without spaces, sentences and paragraphs.
- It also shows the average word length, words per sentence and an estimated reading time.
Example
A two-paragraph text has 33 words, 3 sentences and 210 characters (177 without spaces): 11 words per sentence on average and about 8 seconds of reading at 238 words per minute.
What the result means
A word is a run of letters or digits. Hyphenated compounds count as one, and an apostrophe splits two words ("don't" counts as 2). Word processors may count slightly differently, especially for numbers and punctuation: always compare using the same tool.

How many words should a blog post have?
There is no universal ideal length: the page should answer its question completely. Use the counter to check your outline, not to chase a number.
How are numbers and acronyms counted?
A number or an acronym (2024, SEO) counts as one word. Standalone punctuation marks do not count.
Is there a size limit?
Input is capped at 1,000,000 characters so the page stays responsive.
Is my text stored?
No. It stays in your browser and is neither sent nor saved.
